Ventilation is an important consideration for a successful hydroponic garden.Plants require carbon dioxide in order to photosynthesize and the by-product of this process is oxygen.
If you have an indoor hydroponic garden, you will need to make sure you have adequate ventilation. If the room is small or enclosed, the heat buildup from the lamp as well as the carbon dioxide and oxygen levels may not create an optimal for your plants.
A fan blowing across your garden is a simple and inexpensive solution that can have several beneficial effects:
- The circulating air will help restore gas levels to normal. For this to occur, you need to be venting fresh air in from another room or from outdoors. (Recirculating the air in an enclosed room will not do much good!).
- The fan will also help to dissipate the heat and
- It will promote better stalk growth of the plants – they will be
thicker and shorter rather than long and spindly.
