I was reading through some blogs the other day when I stumbled upon this story. An individual had set up an ebb and flow system in their spare bedroom and had everything working well. The individual had planned out their garden well with timers and ventilation so that all that was required was changing of the nutrient solution on a weekly basis.
Unfortunately, while away a hose popped off the ebb and flow table and when the timer kicked in, the bedroom which had hard wood floors was flooded. The floor was ruined and resulted in an expensive repair.
The tip here is choose your location wisely and plan for a worst case scenario. After the flooding incident, this particular individual purchased a laundry tub basin and mounted the garden inside of it. If the hose were to detach again, it would merely flood the tub and not damage the floor.
